Sugar & Spice and Everything Nice...

Wait, I don't think that's in the libretto....

The CAC is thrilled to be partnering with the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's Opera Department on the Family Fun Series. UMHB brings the beloved story, Hansel & Gretel, to the CAC stage on March 29, 30 & 31. A Pre-Opera Talk is at 6:30pm and the performance begins at 7:30pm.

UMHB has moved into the space and, as you can see, set and prop pieces are coming together. (these are the children that the mean old witch turned into gingerbread.)

I had the opportunity to peek in on the kids as they rehearsed the finale, after the witch gets hers and the gingerbread children are all turned back to normal. What sweet little voices - like angels.

Based on the beloved fairytale and sung in English, Hansel & Gretel is as a sweet treat (get it?) for the opera novice and the aficionado alike. Tickets are available at the CAC Box Office and are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
